1. Review the Passive Voice

The Present Indefinite PassiveVoice(Unit 9); The Past IndefinitePassive Voice(Unit 10);The Modal AuxiliaryPassive Voice(Unit 11)

2.Get the students to practiseusing the Passive Voice bydoing some oral and written work.

Teaching Aids:

An overhead projector,some realobjects(a teapot,stamps keys,awriting brush,a tooth brush,a glass,amagazine,a sharpener,a knife...)two pictures(a picture of a dinosaur,a pictureof a bedroom)

Teaching Procedure:

I.Revision

Step 1:Look and say

1.Show the objects one afteranother to the class.Let themsay what it is and what it's made of and what it'sused for.It's better to do itindividually.(Help the students to recall the formand the usage of the Present Indefinite Passive Voice.)

2.Put up the picture of adinosaur(with some eggs besideit).Ask them to talk about dinosaur eggs anddinosaurs.(Help the students to recall the form and the usage of the PastIndefinite Tense.)

Step 2:Discuss and say

Questions:Have you seen a noticein your school library/yourschool reading room?What does it say?

Suggested answers:The magazinescan't be taken out of thereading room.They must be put back on the shelf.Themagazine should be taken goodcare of....(Help the students to recall the formand the usage of the Passive Voice with modal verbs.)

Ⅱ.Practice

Step3:Speak

The students can talk abouttheir school things or somethingelse using the Passive Voice.

Step4:Discuss and write

Question:What should you doabout your homework?

Suggested answer:Our homeworkshould be done everyday.It must be written well and handed in on time.

Step5:Look and say

Put up the picture of a messbedroom on the blackboard and tell them a hungry cat made its master's bedroommess.What was done by the cat?

Suggested answer:One sock waspulled out from the shoe.The other was thrown on the floor.The vase wasknocheddown.The plate for it was....

Step6:Supplementary exercises

Show one or two supplementary exercises designed orchosenby the teacher on the screen.

Step7:Sum up

Let the students summarize by themselves.The teachershouldhelp them when it's necessary.

三、复习要“对症下药”,重点突破学生学习中的薄弱环节,使学生通过复习查漏补缺,体验进步,增强自信心,更加认真复习

在总体复习的基础上,教师要对学生平时理解不深、练习不够、运用不当的语言项目进行重点复习。只要教师略作调查就会发现,学生提出的学习难点往往集中在语法项目和有些词的辨异及用法上。几乎所有的教师都有同样的感受:平时教学新的语言项目时,学生“一听就懂,一练就会”,当堂教学效果令人满意,可是一检测却不尽如人意。造成这种情况有三个原因。第一,外语学习中的普遍问题──遗忘。外语学习需要一个逐步理解、消化和吸收的过程。第二,死记语法条规。学生往往对语法条规和词的用法背得滚瓜烂熟,但理解不深,不会运用。第三,练习内容单一。由于教学任务和教学时间所限,一般在学习新语言项目时,练习针对性强,专项训练多,而一旦遇到检测综合能力的试题,学生就容易出现混淆,难以分辨。

语言实践对学生完成知识的内化有着重要作用。教师要一改“以讲代练”或“讲多练少”、重记忆、轻实践的复习方法,要自编、选编相关的复习练习题,通过练习答疑解惑。练习题的设计要有梯度,满足不同程度、不同类型学生的需要,要由专项训练过渡到综合训练。通过复习解决学生的疑难问题,使他们获得成就感,学生就会积极与教师合作,争取更大进步。

综合题实例:(复习现在完成时)

四、听、说、读、写交替进行,减轻学生的疲劳感,精选复习练习套题,减少练习题数量,减轻学生的学业负担,提高复习实效

新课标提出基础教育阶段英语课程的任务:“使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识和听、说、读、写技能,形成一定的综合语言运用能力”。复习课中,教师要使学生在听和读的练习中提高理解能力,在说和写的练习中提高表达能力。要尽量通过听、说、读、写练习使学生加深理解和掌握已学语言的形式、意义和用法,调动学习的积极性,减轻复习疲劳感,提高综合运用语言的能力。
